What is your profession and why did you choose it?
  • I am an Elder Law and Estate Planning Attorney. I chose estate planning because
I enjoy helping people have a game plan for the unexpected and expected events of life.
People work hard and need peace of mind that their choices will be followed. I chose Elder
Law because I want to advocate for Seniors and people with disabilities. They require
special care and it's satisfying to help them with their unique estate planning needs.
How long have you owned your own business?
  • I started practicing law in St. Louis in 1992. Tucker Legal Services is a re-branding of my law firm after I married a Tucker.
What inspired you to own your own business?
  • My mom and dad always encouraged me to go for my dreams. I wanted to be my
own boss. With hard work and their encouragement, I decided to take a risk, make
that leap and hang my law shingle to start my own business.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
  • I used to ride and jump dirt bikes--that might surprise people. One day I realized that if I wrecked when catching air on a good jump, it would be difficult chasing after my three children.
Do you have a hobby, play a sport, or have any special interests?
  • I'm into photography, golf, and cycling.
What job would you be terrible at?
  • Nursing - hats off to them, especially now- I couldn't do it.
Who has impressed you most with what they've accomplished?
  • Two women: Mother Theresa of Calcutta because of all her work with the poor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg because she broke the glass ceiling for women in law.
Where is the most interesting place you have visited?
  • Napa Valley, California. The cuisine, wine, and ambiance is fantastic!
Do you have any advice based on your area of expertise?
  • Estate planning and Elder law is not an add-on practice or just filling out forms. It's more complex and intertwines with areas such as tax law. Keep sharpening your saw. In addition, build long-term relationships with your clients and your network of referral partners.
If you could work anywhere in the world, where would you choose?
  • I keep choosing it-Right here in St. Louis, Missouri.
How has working in a shared work space influenced your business?
  • My clients really like coming to the office. They complement the staff about their friendliness. Because my clients feel positive, that helps business. Because the people are professional and the place looks great-it sets a good impression and that helps business too.
What is your favorite restaurant from the St. Louis area?
  • Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
  • Take a chance and do something out of your comfort zone-it can change
lives-even your own.
Who's your go to band or artist when you can't decide on something to listen to?
  • Ray LaMontagne
