  • What is your profession and why did you choose it?
    • I am an Escrow Closer with Hillsboro Title Company. I work at our Chesterfield office with Tereasa McClintock, who is a processor with Hillsboro Title. I started in title about 9 years ago. A friend of mine worked for a title company, and she helped me get in the door. They don’t teach title in school, so it’s truly something you learn by doing. The title industry is interesting, ever changing, challenging, but rewarding. I love being part of the home buying process!
  • Tell us about Hillsboro Title Company! How many locations do they have? How long have they been in business?
    • Hillsboro Title has been in business for 46 years and we currently have 8 locations. Our main office and our construction disbursing office is located in Hillsboro, MO.
  • What might someone be surprised to know about you?
    • People may be surprised to learn that I once worked as a high school and middle school substitute teacher for the Rockwood School District. I’m a graduate of Eureka High School, so it was fun going back and seeing how much that school has changed and grown. In college, I earned an Associate’s degree in Communications in Broadcasting. I wanted to become the next Barbara Walters. As I continued on, I changed my degree program to Education and eventually English.
  • Do you have a hobby, play a sport, or have any special interests?
    • In my off time, I enjoy working out and going to my son’s games. I have three children and my youngest is Joe, who is 15. He plays soccer and baseball for Lafayette High School.
  • What job would you be terrible at?
    • One job I could never do is anything IT related. I’m not tech savvy. But then again…never say never. Many years ago, when purchasing my first home, I remember sitting at the closing table, looking at the title agent and thinking, now that is a job I could never do- too many numbers and too many papers. Now I can’t see myself doing anything different.
  • Do you have any advice based on your area of expertise?
    • One thing I know to be true, no matter what your profession, make sure bridges are being built and not burned. You just never know where this journey is going to lead.
