What is your profession and why did you choose it?
I am an Attorney. I chose this profession because it gives me a unique opportunity to help people and advocate for them when they are going through tough times. I started out my career working for the State as an Assistant Prosecutor. Now, I primarily do criminal defense and traffic law. How long have you owned your own business? I started B. Block Law LLC four years ago at the end of 2015. Two former clients reached out to me for help on the same day, and I saw it as God sending me a sign to open my own business. What inspired you to own your own business? A few other people that graduated school a year before me started their own firms, and they helped inspire me to think that I could do it too. My Marketing background in college also helped prepare me. What might someone be surprised to know about you? In college, I was the Editor-In-Chief for our newspaper The Omnibus at Southwest Baptist University. Do you have a hobby, play a sport, or have any special interests? I have a wonderful wife, Adria. I ran a pizza blog called stlpizzaguy.com that got more than 30,000 views. So I love eating pizza 3-4 times a month. I have recently started playing the piano again. What job would you be terrible at? I don’t think there’s many jobs that I would be bad at. I would definitely be a bad ballet dancer though. Who has impressed you most with what they’ve accomplished? My parents are both awesome people, Tom and Donna Block. They have been there for me in good and bad times. I look up to them because they are genuine, every-day people who raised three great children. Where is the most interesting place you have visited? Europe. When I was a senior in high school I went to Rome, Florence and Paris for a whirlwind week of spring break. I liked seeing the history there. Do you have any advice based on your area of expertise? First, in the area of DWI law. Many people hear the advice never to blow into a breathalyzer machine. But depending on the part of the state you are in, the circumstance of your case, and changes in Missouri Law, this could be bad advice and do more harm to you for refusing the test. Always consult with a professional. My second piece of advice, is don’t let Google take the place of a lawyer for real legal advice. There’s so much information out there, and it can be confusing. If you could work anywhere in the world, where would you choose? San Diego California. I think the weather is great there year-round but not much work would get done. How has working in a shared work space influenced your business? It’s nice to see people from different careers sharing space because we are not competitors or coworkers and we have a friendly environment. Also working in a shared space gives a great impression to clients with the beautiful conference room and other amenities that I would not be able to afford on my own. What is your favorite restaurant from the St. Louis area? Charlie Gittos. I love Italian food and pizza. What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Do something kind for someone who you KNOW has no ability to pay you back or return the favor. Who’s your go to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to? Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, or Queen. Springsteen and Dylan are both great songwriters. Queen is an awesome band and I’ve started listening to them more after Bohemian Rhapsody the movie.

Colliers International, a global leader in real estate services and investment management, produced a survey about the U.S. Workplace in 2019. The ‘flexible workspace’ is proving to be a powerful tool for businesses, no matter how big or small. The amenities they provide help small businesses and start-up propel their business into new heights! Here are some of the biggest takeaways from the survey: • Breaking Traditions – Colliers International Reported that in 2010, there were less than 300 flexible workspaces. Today, there are more than 5,000 locations across the country! Traditional office spaces are changing their structures to accommodate businesses who want something similar to the flexible workspace. • Flexible for Every Customer – A big draw to the flexible workspace is in the name – it is flexible! It can be used as a quick spot for a short period for larger corporations, or be a full-time area with the utilization of all of the support for a small business. It gives every business the opportunity to work in a creative environment to grow their business quantitatively and qualitatively. • Space As a Service – According to Colliers, a reason for the growth in the flexible workspace is not viewing space as a commodity, but as a service. Property owners are using customer centricity to attract businesses to use their quality services in their office space. • The New Workforce – As a new generation of people come of age and enter the workforce, businesses and employers need to shift the culture and environment to attract these new minds. A big way to attract them is to place them in a flexible workplace, where this new young talent can work and grow the best. At AMG Corporate Offices and Creve Coeur Workspace, we pride ourselves in offering a flexible workspace to help every business prosper. Whether you are using our virtual services, or work here every day, we provide tools that you can utilize to keep your business running smoothly.
